82-021 RES RESOLUTION 82-21
WHEREAS, Kenneth Nelson has been employed by the City of Elk River from 1970 until
1982; and,
WHEREAS, During the time of his employment, Mr. Nelson has, on occasion, been a
public safety hazard, as in the case of mistaking an automobile for a
pile of snow on Highway #10 and plowing it from the road; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Nelson has proven to be hazardous to certain pieces of equipment such
as when he backed the City's road grader into his pickup truck; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Nelson's employment has proven to be costly for the City inasmuch as
Sherburne County has just presented a bill for $50,000 for missing mater-
ials from the County Public Works Garage to the City of Elk River; and,
WHEREAS, When first employed, Ken Nelson was a silver-tongued orator and with each
passing year, he has grown into a more cantankerous codger.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER that Ken
Nelson's termination from the City of Elk River is hereby acknowledged with a great
sign of relief; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER that to help
Ken enjoy the fruits of his retirement as he made his twelve years with the City
so enjoyable, that the following be granted to Mr. Nelson:
• 1. Life-long membership in the Elk River Softball Association and all the
beer he can drink.
2. A life-time membership in the DFL Party and an appointment to future
governor Rudy Perpich-s cabinet as bocce ball consultant .
3. Title to the Old Highway #101 Bridge.
4. Honarary tribal membership to the Sioux Indian Tribe of Mobridge,
South Dakota.
