A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING ROBERT PETERMANN'S SELECTION
AS POLICE OFFICER OF THE YEAR, HONORABLE MENTION
WHEREAS, Robert Petermann is, and has been a Police Officer for the City of
Elk River since his employment in July 1980; and,
WHEREAS, During Robert Petermann's tenure as Police Officer with the City of
Elk River, he has been a productive and hard working employee of the
City of Elk River; and,
WHEREAS, In addition to Robert Petermann's work as a Police Officer, he has
also been involved in the following activities:
Officer Petermann was chosen as one of the ten outstanding young
Minnesotans of the year by the Minnesota State Jaycees in February
of 1983 for his work in the school district and community. He
serves as an advisor for the Elk River Traffic Safety group, which
won the state "Award of Excellence" for traffic safety their first
le year of participation. He was instrumental in establishing a
Jaycee's group in Elk River in November 1982, and was instrumental
in starting an Explorer Post in Elk River. He has been an advisor
for the 24 member law enforcement group. He is involved in giving
talks at the high school to various classes on personal safety,
crime prevention, drivers education and drug and alcohol problems.
He was Co-organizer of the 1982 Sherburne County Cardiac Arrest
Heart Fund raiser and was instrumental to its success, and has
been an organizer for the Cystic Fibrosis Fund raiser for the past
two years. Officer Petermann is a Boy Scout and Cub Scout Leader,
member of the Elk River Drug and Alcohol team, member of the Sher-
burne Co. Rape Crisis Center, still finding time to be a Mille Lacs
foster parent; and .
WHEREAS, Because of Robert Petermann's outstanding services of a Police Officer,
and in his community, he was selected as a Police Officer of the Year
for calendar year 1982, Honorable Mention; .and,
WHEREAS, Selection as Police Officer of the Year, Honorable Mention, is a
significant achievement by a Police Officer granted only for the
highest quality of service and dedication to a city.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River that
Robert Petermann's selection as Police Officer of the Year, Honorable
Mention, for 1982, is hereby recognized as an outstanding achievement
which reflects positively on the City of Elk River, as well as, upon
Robert Petermann; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River that the
City Council recognizes and appreciates the efforts and actions of
Robert Petermann, and that the City Council is extremely proud and
pleased to have a Police Officer of this high caliber and quality
working within the Elk River Police Department.
