Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the promotion of Jim Lebrun to the position of Building Maintenance Technician
effective May 19, 2015.
Background/Discussion
The 2015 Building Maintenance Division budget eliminated the position of laborer and added the
position of building maintenance technician. We went to market to fill the building maintenance
technician position and interviewed four candidates;three of which were invited back for a second
interview. Following the second interview, it was decided to recommend internal candidate Jim Lebrun
for this position.
Mr. Lebrun has been working for the city as the laborer in the Building Maintenance Division since 2007.
He has proven to be a dedicated employee and prepared himself for the technician position by going to
school to achieve the necessary training and certifications. We are pleased to be able to offer Mr. Lebrun
this position.
Mr. Lebrun will start this position at step B of pay grade 5. He will be eligible for any cost of living
increase for 2016 and, based on satisfactory performance, eligible for a step increase on July 1, 2016. All
other pay and benefits are consistent with city policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
