Action Requested
• Approve, by motion, the appointment of Steven Stoffers to the position of Interim Park
Maintenance Supervisor effective June 6, 2015, at a biweekly salary rate of$2,628.80.
• Approve, by motion, the appointment of Joshua Baas to the position of Interim Lead Park
Maintenance Worker effective June 6, 2015, at a pay rate of$27.14 per hour.
Background/Discussion
Following the resignation of Park Maintenance Supervisor Rodney Schreifels, it is necessary to appoint an
interim supervisor. Recommended for this appointment is Steven Stoffers, the city's lead park
maintenance worker. This, in turn, leaves a vacancy in the lead worker position and staff recommends
appointing Park Maintenance Worker Joshua Baas to that position.
Interim appointments require additional duties, authority, and responsibility. In respect of the additional
duties, authority, and responsibility the city typically provides interim pay during this period. Ten percent
above current salary is consistent with interim pay provided in the past and is the amount requested in the
action above. As well, Mr. Stoffers will be working as an exempt employee during this interim
assignment.
Financial Impact
The park maintenance supervisor position is fully funded in the 2015 budget; therefore, there is no
financial impact.
