Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the hiring of Robert Pullar and Nicolas Albert to the position of part-time
Community Service Officer (CSO) beginning June 3, 2015.
Background/Discussion
The recent departure of Amy Berglund has left the CSO position vacant. It was approved at the April 6
meeting to hire two part-time CSOs in the vacancy of the one full-time position. This will allow the
department to gain eight additional hours of coverage and create an environment where the police
department can use the part-time positions as a proving ground for those who may be interested in future
police officer positions.
These positions are intended to end after two years,with a possible extension of one year depending on
the employee's education track.
Financial Impact
The full-time position is currently budgeted. Hiring two part-time CSOs at 24 hours per week would
amount to the same budgeted amount when benefits are included.
