Presentation of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Commendation Certificate.
Background/Discussion
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) recognizes municipalities and industries on an annual
basis for outstanding and innovative achievements in wastewater treatment and pollution abatement
programs. The City of Elk River was among the 116 of the state's 1,360 wastewater treatment facilities to
receive this award at the annual Wastewater Operations Conference in March.
Award eligibility requires facility operators to submit timely and accurate monitoring reports to the
MPCA, demonstrate consistent compliance through monitoring or surveys, and employ MPCA certified
operators.
This award acknowledges the dedication and hard work of Chief Wastewater Operator,Matt Stevens and
his staff. This is the 15"' consecutive year that the wastewater treatment plant has received this award.
Attached is a letter from the MPCA Commissioner John Linc Stine informing the city of the Certificate
of Commendation for the period October 1, 2013, through September 30, 2014. This award recognizes
exemplary effort expended to comply with the MPCA Permit Program.
