DISCUSSION:
• Delivered six new residential water meters.
• Sealed the water meter and took curb stop ties from six water services.
• Turned on four water services, and four electric services.
• Turned off four water services.
• Went on ten service calls.
• Completed 25 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples
o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria.
• Completed 20 routine fluoride samples
o All samples met MDH standards. This was the first month we had to meet the
lower standard of.7 ppm.
• We have determined that Well#8 is not pumping sand at this time. After reviewing the
video,we have made an early determination that roughly 15 feet of cavity has collapsed.
The open hole at the bottom of the well will have to be redeveloped and the fill will need
to be removed when the well is pulled for maintenance in the future.
• We have completed the first round of treatment optimization with John Thom from SEH.
We have made quite a few changes to our treatment process resulting in many procedural
changes for treatment and testing. The biggest change that effects the water department is
that we now have more tests that need to be completed. In the past there were only eight
tests being completed every month for each well. We now have 85 tests that will need to
be completed at a minimum. There is daily effluent testing of iron, manganese, and free
chlorine. Monthly tests will include 20 filter bed tests, raw water samples,pH, and
temperature.
• Well#5 failed on June 5. After troubleshooting the problem, it was determined the motor
had blown a seal and needed to be sent back to the manufacturer. Fortunately, the motor
was still under warranty. E.H. Renner pulled the well and sent it out for repair. We are
still waiting for the well to be returned for reinstallation.

• The water operators have started with the scheduled annual hydrant maintenance. This
year the total number that will be receiving preventative maintenance will be 363
hydrants; this includes 163 private hydrants and 200 utility owned hydrants.
• The water operators exercised and performed preventative maintenance on all of the gate
valves that were located in the 2015 street improvement areas. This helps to ensure that
the valves are in working order before the street project begins. If there were to be any
gate valves requiring replacement, we would be able to complete that before the road is
replaced. We did locate one valve on County Road One/Proctor Ave that will be repaired
during the county's reconstruction project. During this inspection,we take gate valve ties,
which help us relocate valves should they be paved over.
• We had our ERMU Field Services Space Needs Study Kickoff meeting with Kodet
Architectural Group on July 8. As we get further into the study, we will continue to keep
the commission updated on our progress.
