Staff Update
DISCUSSION:
• The Energy City Commission toured Xcel Energy's Sherco power plant. Sherco is
Minnesota's largest coal burning power plant and burns more than 9 million tons a year.
• Working with large industrial customers on correcting their power quality and reducing
their impacts on the ERMU distribution system.
• Commercial rebate participation is picking up and businesses are investing in efficiency.
Working on numerous light retrofit projects.
• Attended a meeting with the Elk River Chamber of Commerce and a local business to
discuss ERMU rates and load management programs.
• Working with Jolene Fenn-Jansen to complete the Energy Guide. This will be an
educational tool to help our customers better understand how they use and waste energy.
The focus is primarily residential,but it will provide benefits for commercial customers
as well.
