Approve,by motion, the hiring of Joel Heaton to the position of Ice Arena Lead Worker effective
August 17, 2015.
Background/Discussion
After a second recruitment to fill the Lead Worker position,we received 16 applications and interviewed
six candidates. Three candidates were invited back for a second interview and we recommend the hiring
of Joel Heaton for this position.
Mr. Heaton has worked as a shift supervisor for six years at the National Sports Center/Schwan's Super
Rink in Blaine. More recently he has been employed for nine years leading a work crew in the installation
of office workstations and moving offices. Mr. Heaton is STAR certified in ice rink refrigeration.
Mr. Heaton will start this position at step A of pay grade 5. All other pay and benefits will be consistent
with city policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
