TO: FROM:

John Dietz—Chair Manager
Al Nadeau—Vice Chair
Daryl Thompson—Trustee
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
August 11th, 2015 6.1f
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
DISCUSSION:
• Conducted a tour for a home school group at the Elk River Landfill Gas Plant.
• Continued to work with large commercial customers and the Elk River Chamber of
Commerce on the acquisition of Connexus Energy customers in the fall of 2015.
• Commercial rebate participation is steady. We are working on a custom rebate for a 400
horse power variable frequency drive.
• Residential rebates are very active this summer. As residential construction continues to
rise, there has been an increased interest in dual fuel. The polar vortex and the propane
shortages of two years ago are still fresh in the minds of customers building new homes.
• Attended a meeting with the Elk River Economic Development Director to discuss the
transition of a large commercial account from Connexus Energy to ERMU.
• Met with Greater MSP and a possible data center customer. The estimated load at this
point is 4 MW. The meeting went well and we answered all their questions. The initial
feedback from Greater MSP is that Elk River did well.
