INFORMATION
As you are aware, the following terms of office will expire on December 31, 2004.
· Councilmember from Ward 2
· Councilmember from Ward 3
The fflmg time span is from 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 6, 2004, until 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, July
20, 2004, for an election to be held on the 2nd day of November 2004.
I will need a completed affidavit of candidacy accompanied by a $5.00 filing fee or in place
of the filing fee, the candidate may present a petition at the time of filing an affidavit of
candidacy. This petition may be signed by any individual eligible to vote for the candidate.
The number of signatures required is the lesser of 500 signatures or 5% of the total number
of votes cast in the municipality, ward, or other election district at the preceding general
election at which that office was on the ballot.
A candidate who will be absent from the state during the filing period may submit a properly
executed affidavit of candidacy, the appropriate filing fee, and any necessary petitions in
person to the City Clerk during the seven days immediately preceding the candidate's
absence from the state.
A candidate may withdraw from the election by fding an affidavit of withdrawal no later than
5 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2004.
