5.2. SR 06-12-2000iver Item #5.2. TO: FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: Mayor & City Council Pat Klaers, City Administra June 12, 2000 Consider Tax Forfeited Properties Annually, Building and Zoning Administrator Steve Rohlf receives information from the county regarding tax forfeited properties. Steve then identifies the sites and, in consultation with other department heads, evaluates whether or not the city should pursue acquiring these parcels. Attached is a map from Steve showing the five tax forfeited properties that are currently under consideration. I concur with Steve's recommendations in that we should pursue Parcel A and C. However, it is unlikely that we will be able to obtain Parcel A for the taxes due amount, and if the price increases significantly because of market value, then we would not recommend pursuing this parcel. This property is directly north of the city-owned business park lot off of Joplin Street and the land use designation is for commercial activity in the BP zone. At this time we should at least indicate our interest in this parcel. Likewise we should indicate our interest in Parcel C if the city engineer thinks that we need this parcel in order to preserve drainage patterns. I will offer additional comments on Parcels A and C and why we don't think we should pursue Parcels B, D, and E at Monday's meeting. Recommendation It is recommended that the city pursue Parcel A and C and not pursue Parcels B, D, and E. 13065 Orono Parkway · P.O.
