MAIN STREET TRAFFIC SIGNAL BIDS

Dear Council Members:
As we discussed previously, the traffic signal work associated with the Main Street
reconstruction project was removed and bid as a separate contract. This work included a signal
at the intersection of Main Street and Trunk Highway (TH) 169 and a new signal at the
intersection of CSAH 12 and CSAH 13. Those bids were opened on August 1, 2000. The
following table provides a summary of the bidders and their total bids.

This work is to be totally funded by the developers of Elk River Crossing. They have previously
placed with the City funds sufficient to cover the street construction and signal work associated
with the Main Street improvement. Ridgedale Electric has successfully completed similar
projects. Therefore, we would recommend award to Ridgedale Electric, Inc. as the lowest
responsible bidder in the amount of $270,926.00. Attached is a resolution for the City Council's
consideration which would award this project to Ridgedale Electric, Inc.
If you have any questions regarding this issue, I will be in attendance at your August 14, 2000,
City Council Meeting.

A RESOLUTION FOR THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID AND AUTHORIZING
EXECUTION OF CONTRACT IN THE MATTER OF THE
MAIN STREET/TRUNK HIGHWAY 169 SIGNALIZATION
AND CSAH 'I2/CSAH 13 SIGNALIZATION IMPROVEMENT OF 2000
WHEREAS
pursuant to City Council direction, competitive bids were solicited and received
for the Main Street/Trunk Highway 169 Signalization and CSAH 12/CSAH 13
Signalization; and
WHEREAS
the City Council has considered the amount of the bids and the responsibility of
the bidders and determined that Ridgedale Electric, Inc., is the lowest
responsible bidder;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River, Minnesota:
The Mayor and City Administrator are authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of
the City, such contract with Ridgedale Electric, Inc. as is approved by the City Attorney,
for the completion of the Main Street/Trunk Highway 169 Signalization and CSAH
12/CSAH 13 Signalization to the approved plans and specifications designed by City
Council Resolution.
The City Administrator is authorized and directed to forthwith return to all bidders the
deposits made with their bids upon execution of the contract specified above.
