Recreation Board. Michele Bergh is the Recreation Manager. The next
Community Recreation Board meeting is Monday, August 21, 2000. Attached
for your review is the agenda packet for this meeting. At this City Council
meeting, Paul is scheduled to present an update on recent community
recreation activities.

Summer
Total registrations for summer are 1,767 + 2,168 attended the Entertainment in the Park and did the craft
project following the entertainment for a total summer participation of 3,935. This is up from last
summer's final number of 3,846.
Staff
Our intern is done August 16. Our workload is slowing down now that summer is wrapping up. We
will not be using as much part time help to take care of everything.
Fall
Fall planning is done and the brochure has been sent to the printer. It will be delivered with the
Wednesday paper on August 30th. This brochure we are trying a flip brochure so our information will be
on one side of the brochure and you'll need to flip it to view Community Education and ECFE's
information. We are hoping that this will be well received and will make it easier for people to tell the
difference between our organizations. You will find a copy of our pages in your packet.
Website
The website will be updated for the fall in the next two weeks. This is a big project and will take a
couple of days of work.

Community Recreation
Community Recreation offers recreational programming, support and input to the park and recreation
commissions, support services to the youth associations, as well as other related services. We are a municipally
funded organization, serving the cities of Elk River, Otsego, Rogers and the township of Hassan. These
municipalities, along with ISD 728, have entered into a Joint Powers Agreement aimed at delivering recreational
opportunities to their residents.

Registration begins:
· Immediately for all Community Recreation activities.
Forms:
· To register, please complete a registration form, one per each participant, for the desired activities.
· More forms can be obtained by copying the page, stopping by our office, or by accessing our website.
· If mailing, dropping off or faxing in your registration, it is best to fill out a different registration form for each
organization and mail or drop them off at the correct address or fax number listed on the back of this brochure.
Do you qualify for the discount?
Residents of Elk River, Otsego, Rogers and Hassan Township
qualify for the discounts where applicable. You must reside
within the city limits to qualify. If the community you reside
in is not currently a member of the Joint Powers
Agreement, the Community Recreation Board and staff
encourage you to inform your city council or township board
of your interest in the program and ask them to consider
membership.
Refunds
Refunds are issued at the discretion of
Community Recreation. Requests must
be made at least 2 business days prior

River Skating Academy is a multi-level
skating program designed for skaters of
all ages and abilities. Whether you're
interested in figure skating, boy's or
girl's hockey, ice dancing, hockey
cheerleading, or recreational skating;
ERSA can help you achieve your on-ice
goal.

The breakfast club is a walking and
skating program for seniors. We meet
from 9am-l lam Monday, Wednesday,
and Fridays throughout the Fall, Winter
and Spring. The first session is

the coffee. This is a great way to meet
new friends.

Boys & Girls Club of
Elk River
Passport to Manhood: This program
seeks to instill in young boys, ages
11-14, the values and moral compass
that will assist them in their journey
from adolescence to manhood. If you
arc interested please contact John at

Smart Girls: Offered for girls ages
10-15 to develop healthy attitudes and
lifestyles and to make positive
decisions at the critical stage in theft
physical, cognitive, emotional and
social development. This class will be
offered every Wednesday from 5-6pm
starting September 6th. For more

Teen Supreme Keystone Club: is a
small group leadership development
club for 14-18 year old members.
Keystone Club consists of eight to
fifteen teens that elect their own
officers and plan and implement their
own leadership and service activities.
Activities include: national and
regional conferences, national service
projects and award programs. The day
and time of the activity will be
determined by the members that
participate. If you are interested,

Information
The Elk River Boys Youth Basketball
program has two leagues...a House
league for grades 1 through 9 and a
Travel league for grades 5 through 9.
Registration for the Elk River Boys
Youth Basketball Association (either
house or ravel leagues) can be made by
mailing in a completed form and
payment or by visiting one of our
registration locations listed below.
You will need one form per player.
Additional registration forms are
available at Community Education
Building or the Emporium (next to
Ron's Foods), or by using our web site
www.erbyb.org. Registration Deadline
is October 13, 2000. All registrations
received after that date will be placed
on a waiting list and assessed a $15 late
fee if an opening occurs.
