Approve,by motion,nine representatives for the Houlton Farm Planning Committee as follows:
1. City Council Member Jerry Olsen
2. Parks and Recreation Commission Member Dave Anderson
3. Resident Member Sue Seeger
4. Resident Member Michael Schroeder
5. Resident Member (Chairman) Stewart Wilson
6. Local high school student Isabella Dusbabek
7. Parks and Recreation Director Michael Hecker
8. Environmental Technician Kristen Mroz
9. One ad hoc position as needed which will rotate between the Parks Maintenance Superintendent
and the City Engineer.
Background/Discussion
A planning committee of eight members was approved by City Council on January 20, 2015. Since that
time a few changes have occurred on the committee. Jeremy Barnhart resigned last spring and was
replaced by City Environmental Technician Kristin Mroz. The student representative Nate Benkofstke
resigned last month to attend college. He is recommended by the Committee to be replaced by a new
student representative Isabella Dusbabek who is currently a junior at Elk River High School.
The Committee is recommending that an additional Resident Member seat be approved and filled by
Michael Schroeder. This would increase the number of representative seats from eight to nine members.
Mr. Schroeder has been attending the Committee meetings the past three months,volunteers in the
parks, and has a strong interest to serve on the Committee.
Financial Impact
The planning effort continues to complete a restoration/natural resource management plan. The cost of
developing the plans will be shared between the city and interested partners such as the Friends of the
Mississippi River.
