Request to make Tentative Job Offer

We are about to complete the background checks on the top three candidates for the next
COPS grant position. All three candidates are very strong contenders and would all be
excellent additions to our force.
I am asking your permission to make a tentative offer to the top candidate after the
backgrounds are complete so that the candidate can then go through the f'mal phase of the
selection process which is the medical and psychological testing.
I would then return to the council once that testing is completed to request permission to
hire the selected candidate.
