Future Sites for Water Facilities
Pat Klaers asked if I would update the City Council on future sites for Water facilities.
Attached is a marked-up city map reflecting the location of our existing and future water
facilities. These facilities are as follows.

Each Well at 1000 gallons per minute or 1.4 million gallons per day, can serve
approximately 750 homes at current usage. Lawn water sprinkling usage is the driving
factor for our water system capacity. See the attached graph. Peak day winter
consumption is approximately 1.2 million gallons per day, which is approximately what
the Waste Water System handles. Peak day summer consumption is approximately 5.3
million gallons per day. The difference is lawn sprinkling.
The timing and extent of the water system expansion from the intersection of 171 st
Avenue and Highway 10 heading southeast along Highway 10 to Ramsey is unknown at
this time. This expansion will probably necessitate a water tower and addition wells.
As a final note, the water system continues to struggle to deliver enough water to the west
business park area. This is the reason the booster/pressure reducing station was
constructed at Meadowvale Road at the railroad tracks along with upsizing the water
mains at 4th and 5th Street in the Rush/Morton area. If a significant water user locates in
the west industrial park or the fairground is relocated and this area becomes residential,
another peaking well may be required with the water being treated at Treatment Plant #4.
We are looking at a small piece of the vacant land east of the City Hall complex for a
possible location.
