Background/Discussion In the 2015 park improvement fund, $95,000 was allocated for athletic field improvements. Staff notified the local youth athletic associations of the available funds to get feedback for potential projects. The Elk River Youth Baseball Association (ERYB) was the only association to respond. Staff met with representatives from ERYB and developed a list of projects. One project identified was the installation of dugouts on fields five and six at the YAC. Two bids were received for the dugout project, one from Terra and one from Hanson Brothers. Due to the current construction business climate acquiring additional bids was challenging. Financial Impact Terra Bid $107,308 (for 4 dugouts) Hanson Brothers Bid $75,400 (for 4 dugouts) A detailed bid from Hanson Brothers was not available at the time the Council packet was assembled. Attached is an e-mail verifying their bid total. The detailed bid will be provided at the September 21 City Council meeting. PERFORMANCE TIPS Stripe coat all crevices, welds, and sharp angles to prevent early failure in these areas. When using spray application, use a 50% overlap with each pass of the gun to avoid holidays, bare areas, and pinholes. If necessary, cross spray at a right angle Spreading rates are calculated on volume solids and do not include an application loss factor due to surface profi le, roughness or po-rosity of the surface, skill and technique of the applicator, method of application, various surface irregularities, material lost during mixing, spillage, overthinning, climatic conditions, and excessive fi lm build. Excessive reduction of material can affect fi lm build, appearance, and adhesion. Do not mix previously catalyzed material with new. Do not apply the material beyond recommended pot life. In order to avoid blockage of spray equipment, clean equipment before use or before periods of extended downtime with Reducer R7K111 or Oxsol 100. Insuffi cient ventilation, incomplete mixing, miscatalyzation, and external heaters may cause premature yellowing. Excessive fi lm build, poor ventilation, and cool temperatures may cause solvent entrapment and premature coating failure. Tinting is not recommended for immersion service. Use only Mil White for immersion service. Quik-Kick Epoxy Accelerator is acceptable for use. See data page 4.99 for details. Hi Steve, I just got a text from Eric Hansen on an update to the cost of the project. We are planning on only putting the new dugouts on YAC 5 & 6. The price for each dugout w/ a rock face knee wall w/cap, is $18,850.00. With 4 dugouts, that comes to a total cost of $75,400.00. With $80,000+ dollars left available to use, that puts us under our budget for 2015. To me that is great news. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you.
