Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the hiring of Dylan Sandberg to the position of Police Officer effective October 6,
2015.
Background/Discussion
Due to resignations and an untimely death, the department currently has three police officer vacancies.
The department also anticipates a retirement later this year.
Staff interviewed nearly 90 viable candidates for the vacancies. Three finalists are currently undergoing
background checks following successful physical/psychological examinations.
The department was able to move quickly with the hiring of Dylan Sandberg as he is a Reserve Officer
with the department and recently had a background investigation done. Mr. Sandberg has had his
background updated and has completed the physical and psychological examinations.
Financial Impact
The positions are currently budgeted. Pay rate is per the union contract for a starting officer.
