The attached letter was received by staff via email on August 24, 2004. Mr. Pederson has
tendered his resignation effective September 24, 2004 prior to the September 28, 2004
regular meeting.
Action Requested
The Council is asked to accept Commissioner Pederson's resignation with regrets and
authorize staff to advertise the vacancy on the City's website and in the Elk River Star News.

Dear Mayor and City Council:
This is to notify you of my decision to step down from the Planning Commission effective
September 24, 2004. This decision is due to increasing schedule conflicts which will not allow
me to attend a number of upcoming meetings. In good conscious I feel that this is not fair to the
City of Elk River and my fellow commission members.
It has been a pleasure to serve on the commission for the past 4 plus years. I have learned a great
deal about our fine city and I thank you for this opportunity.
