Action Requested
Approve,by motion, the hiring of Angie Fisher to the position of secretary/receptionist for the city's
Police Department effective November 9, 2015.
Background/Discussion
Due to the year-end retirement of Michelle Masica, who is the active Elk River Police Department
Support Services Supervisor, a hiring process was implemented to find and train position replacements
within the Support Services Division.
As the hiring process started, both of the current Police Department secretary/receptionists (Linda
Canton and Kris Sandhoefner) applied, interviewed, and were selected to the fill the vacant Crime
Prevention Specialist and Records Clerk positions. As they transition into their new positions,it will
leave the two front desk secretary/receptionist positions vacant.
We went to market to fill these two positions, received 76 applications, and interviewed 12 candidates.
Angie Fisher was selected to fill one of the vacancies and has completed her background and reference
checks. Based on the successful results we are requesting approval to hire Angie Fisher for one of the
secretary/receptionist positions.
Ms. Fischer will start at step A of pay grade 3. All pay and benefits will be consistent with city policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
