Responsibilities
it Responsible for ail library building related items including cleaning services,utilities,repairs
and maintenance of the building,insurance,and;furniture and;fixtures within the building.
11 Promotes the best possible use of all library resources.
Membership
The Library Board shall consist of five members.Members of the Library Board must reside in
Sherburne County;however,a:majority of members must be city residents. Board members are
appointed by the Mayor,upon approval from the City Council,for three-year terms.
A library board member shall not be eligible to serve more than three consecutive three-year terms.
Meetings
The Library Board meets every other month on the fourth Tuesday at 5:OO p.m.The meetings are
held at Talk River Library, 13020 Orono Parkway.

Purpose: To oversee the physical facility housing the Elk River Public Library and to prO ote
the best possible use of all library resources.(Article III:By-Laws Elk.River Library Board of Directors)
Responsibilities of the Board of Directors: (Article IV:By-Laws Elk River Library Board of Directors)-
1. Seeing that an adequate physical facility and furnishings are provided
2. Assuring that heat, light, water and other utilities are provided, (Excluding telephone)
3. Overseeing the physical maintenance of the facility, including janitorial serviices and
repairs.
4. Development and interpretation of policies pertaining to community room use.
5. Encouraging local special programming.

• The fourth Tuesday of every other month at 5:00 PM

Mary Eberley moved and Jayne Dietz seconded a two part motion. Part 1:Recommend to the City
Council of Elk River to replace / include in the City of Elk River Board & Commission Reference
Guide. Part 2:All currentand new members receive a copy as part of orientation to Board. Motion
