Discussion of request to appoint a Parks and Recreation Commissioner to serve on the Multipurpose
Community Center Feasibility Plan Steering Committee.
Adopt,by motion,a Parks and Recreation Commissioner to serve as the Commission representative on
the Multipurpose Community Center Feasibility Plan Steering Committee.
Background/Discussion
A Steering Committee is recommended to work with the Multipurpose Community Center Feasibility
Plan consultants to develop an outline of critical issues, concerns and objectives for this important
project. It is expected that the Steering Committee would work with the consultants throughout the
process from the kick off meeting to the final report that will be presented to City Council.
City Council will discuss the feasibility plan and Steering Committee representatives at the December 7,
2015 meeting. Staff is recommending as follows:
• City Councilmember Name(s) to be appointed by City Council
• Parks and Recreation Commission Member Name to be appointed by the Commission
• City Administrator Cal Portner
• Parks and Recreation Director Michael Hecker
• Finance Director Tim Simon
• City Engineer Justin Femrite
• Recreation Manager Steve Benoit
• Arena Manager Rich Czech
It is expected that the time commitment could be weekday days and evenings to be decided by the
committee members. The timeline for this project is December with a kick off meeting and then working
through the next four months until the month of May when a final report is expected.
Financial Impact
None except for the time commitment.
