The January—April Parks and Recreation Program Guide has been completed and is being
mailed out to the community. Guides are mailed to participants who have utilized Parks and
Recreation programs in the past and are also distributed at key locations around the
community such as the Library,City Hall,Arena,and Activity Center.

Skate Park Project
Seven proposals were received for the Orono Park Skate Park RFP.The RFP scope was
developed from feedback provided through the Parks and Recreation Commission in
addition to the skate park task force. The team reviewing the proposals consisted of the
Parks and Recreation Director,Recreation Program Manager,City Engineer,City Planner,
and a community member from the skate park task force group. The fee for services
ranged from$13,210 to$49,850.

The consensus of the review team was to reward the project to Spohn Ranch Skateparks as a
result of their strength in the following areas:
• Community Engagement
• Consultant Fee
• Company History with Skatepark Design Work
• Understanding of Project Scope
Staff is planning to recommend to City Council this Monday night December 7 to proceed
with Spohn for$23,500. The budget for this project from the Park Improvement Fund is
$35,000. The next step in the process after the contract is awarded is to schedule a kick off
meeting with Spohn and the skate park task force committee.
