Elk River Fire Department Equipment Demonstration
The Elk River Fire Department received a

River, was unable to tape the event and had asked
me to help. Together with Liz, part time producer from t 45 L �`�

plus an honorarium to a fire fighter who lost his life in

Watertown Mayor Welcome

With the help of the commission's newest commissioner, we
k } videotaped Mayor KJ McDonald in several locations around
r�.. ; .: , . , `' . Watertown for a welcome message to put on their website. The
' "*° message is just over 30 seconds in length, whittled down from
• `" . nearly 20 minutes of footage. It is effective and concise. I will
3 help Watertown embed the video on their website.

Cokato Parade
Parades wound down this quarter with Cokato and
Rockford in August and Dassel in September. Cokato
was probably the most memorable, to the left is a shot
of the temperature about 45 minutes into the parade. f
With a temp of 102, one of my camera operators
started feeling a little light headed. Bill assisted by
giving him water and taking his camera for a short time.
Soon he was back on his feet and feeling better.
Rockford Parade
The Rockford Parade is unique in that we have to tear down the
trailer as quickly as possible and move it to the park, and then set
° r- up all the equipment again to tape the queen coronation.

Dassel Parade
Dassel's Parade was another new experience. For the first time we were able to broadcast live
from a location not next to city hall. Using the Leightronix Pegvault, we were able to plug into
the elementary school's internet and broadcast the parade live over Dassel's channel 20
Movie in the Park
There were eleven movies this quarter. The most notable movies were:
In Cokato, the air was thick, the humidity was very high. As we were putting the screen away
we noticed that it was saturated. The next day the humidity had dropped and I was concerned
about mildew so I took the opportunity to pull out the screen, lay it out and dry it in the sun.
Monticello's movies this year were different then other cities, with choices like "The Blind Side"
and "Ghostbusters". They seemed to cater to families with older kids. Ghostbusters was set up
in a downtown parking lot with a visit from the Minnesota chapter of Ghostbusters. From the car
to the unlicensed particle accelerators strapped to their backs , these fans made a good evening
better.
At Rockford, due to possible bad weather, we decided to move the movie to the backup location

at the Rockford High School Auditorium. "The Princess and the Frog" pulled in somewhere
around 40 to 50 people, but what was notable was the fact that we could do movies in the winter
easily. We borrowed the schools rear projection screen that was stored behind the stage
curtain. With our projector, it was almost like going to the theater except with better sound.
Candidate Forums
We produced five candidate forums this quarter, and helped with two others.
In Big Lake we pulled the trailer to the school and ran our cables in the back door. Gina
Wolbeck from city hall operated one camera, while one was locked on the candidates and
another was set on the moderator.
The rest of the forums, Monticello, Dassel and two in Elk River, were a lot like doing a city
council meeting. I helped Marlene Kittock at Delano produce two of their candidate forums.
Monticello High School Homecoming Football Game
By far, for me, this was the highlight of the quarter. We were asked by the City of Monticello if
we could tape the homecoming game. With the help of Jake Pace from Elk River, Kitty Baltos
from Monticello, and two of my regular parade volunteers, we were able to produce a quality
production. We did run in to some minor obstacles along the way, power being one, and
security being another, but we overcame them, and I heard some positive feedback from both
the city and the school.
