SR 01-04-2016Template Updated 4/14 Request for Action To Mayor and City Council Item Number 4.7 Agenda Section Consent Meeting Date January 4, 2016 Prepared by Michael Hecker, Parks and Recreation Director Item Description Resolution Accepting Donation to the Parks and Recreation Department Reviewed by Cal Portner, City Administrator Reviewed by Action Requested Adopt, by motion, a resolution acknowledging the monetary contribution of $211.50 from David Waldron for Woodland Trails Park Background/Discussion David Waldron designed and built the Rice Lake Scenic Overlook deck at the end of the Great Northern Trail as an Eagle Scout project. His successful fundraising effort covered the project costs with a remaining balance of $211.50. He is donating the remaining funds and has requested the donation be used exclusively for Woodland Trails Park. His project was presented and recognized at the November Parks and Recreation Commission meeting. Staff has sent David Waldron a thank you letter for his efforts and donation. Pursuant to Minnesota Statute 465.03, resolutions acknowledging contributions must be adopted by a four-fifths vote. Financial Impact N/A Attachments  Resolution Acknowledging Donation Councilmember _______________ introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: Resolution 16-____ A Resolution of the City of Elk River Acknowledging Contributions WHEREAS, the City of Elk River is grateful to all civic groups, organizations, and individuals for their contributions to the community; and WHEREAS, the City of Elk River received a $211.50 donation from David Waldron with the intent it be used by the Parks and Recreation Department for Woodland Trails Park. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council, by at least four-fifths vote, to acknowledge the support and commend David Waldron for his donation. The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember ______________, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: and the following against: , whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
