Approve, by motion, Dylan Church as the local high school student representative for the William H.
Houlton Conservation Area Planning Committee.
Background/Discussion
The William H. Houlton Conservation Area Planning Committee had a vacancy with the local high
school student seat. The Committee discussed and recommends Dylan Church as the new local high
school student representative. Dylan attended his first meeting in December.
If a student representative vacancy becomes available, staff recommends that this position be appointed
by the Houlton Planning Committee without City Council action in the future.
The William H. Houlton Conservation Area Planning Committee is as follows:
1. City Council Member Jerry Olsen
2. Parks and Recreation Commission Member Dave Anderson
3. Resident Member Sue Seeger
4. Resident Member Michael Schroeder
5. Resident Member (Chairman) Stewart Wilson
6. Local high school student Dylan Church
7. Parks and Recreation Director Michael Hecker
8. Environmental Technician Kristen Mroz
9. One ad hoc position as needed which will rotate between the Parks Supervisor and the City Engineer.
Financial Impact
Much of the planning effort will be the need to complete a restoration/natural resource management
plan. The cost of developing the plan will be shared between the city and interested partners such as the
Friends of the Mississippi River.
