Background/Discussion DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY Joplin Property – Ebert Construction Staff continues to work with the developer on the proposed Joplin/TH 10 project. We are working with ERMU to identify the costs associated with moving existing utility infrastructure underground. The development likely won’t occur without utility relocation. BUSINESS VISITS Please let staff know if you are interested in participating in the upcoming BR&E Visits: Preferred Powder Coating - January 20th at 11:00 a.m. MoCorp, Inc. – Jan. 25, 9 a.m. Distinctive Iron – Feb. 4, 10 a.m. Avalon Salon – Feb. 10, 10 a.m. MISCELLANEOUS Sherburne County Visioning Meeting The Initiative Foundation hosted the first of a series of community visioning meetings to develop and implement a regional economic development plan relating to the Coal Reliant Communities program. The visioning process is funded through a $20,000 grant from Xcel Energy and included ED staff, administrators and township representatives from throughout the county. The estimated total cost of visioning is $50,000. Sherburne County will contribute a generous amount to the remainder and the cities and townships are asked to contribute. Blandin Broadband Communities Program – Grant Awards The City of Elk River was awarded two separate grants totaling $20,000. The Rivers Edge Commons Park Public WiFi Project was awarded $10,000 and $10,000 was awarded to extend the existing fiber network to ISD #728 fiber and from ISD #728 to the Zimmerman City Hall. The Zimmerman connection may allow us to provide IT services to Zimmerman in the future. Sweet P’s Microloan – Microloan Collection Update We received a check in the amount of $1,472.10 representing payment in full for the debt owed by Sweet P’s Ice Cream & Candies on their microloan dated August 4, 2009.
