Staff Updates—General Manager
DISCUSSION:
• The Board of Directors of the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency(MMPA)met on
December 15, 2015 in Shakopee, Minnesota. I was not able to attend because I was at the
Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association(MMUA)board meeting and Technical &
Operations Conference in St. Cloud. The MMPA meeting was attended by our alternate,
Al Nadeau.
At the meeting, the Board approved a 2016 rate increase of 0.9%over the 2015 budget.
The Board also approved MMPA's budget for 2016.
The Board also discussed the Shakopee distributed generation project and the Buffalo
solar project.
The Board elected the following officers for 2016: Steve Schmidt—Chairman, Matt
Podhradsky—Vice Chairman, Liza Donabauer—Secretary, John Crooks—Treasurer.
• Interviews for the GIS/Mapping Technician were conducted on December 7 and 9.
Angela Hauge, an internal candidate,has accepted the position. The vacated Water
Operator position has been posted.
• One of the many positive results of the electric service territory transfer agreement
negotiations with Connexus Energy last year was we have agreed to hold an annual
operational and territory transfer meeting. The meeting will be conducted every January
with key personnel from ERMU and Connexus to review and plan for territory issues as
well as be an open forum to discuss other operation items. Our first of these meeting is
scheduled for January 12. Mark Fuchs,Mike O'Neill, Theresa Slominski, Jennie Nelson,
and I will be attending.
