Background The State of Minnesota has typically declared Manufacturing&Technology Week as the third week in October each year. Cities and organizations within the State then chose whether or not to plan and conduct events and/or activities to honor their own manufacturing and technology businesses. In the past, the EDA has celebrated Manufacturing Week by partnering with the Chamber in planning and holding an event to honor Elk River manufacturers. Each year, the event included plant tours and a luncheon with a keynote speaker. In addition to the event, the EDA has placed large "Thank You" ads in the Elk River Star News and rotated its display booth (featuring several Elk River manufacturers) among local banks. October I 8th Manufacturing Week Event This year, the State of Minnesota has declared the fourth week in October as Manufacturing Week, which is October 24-28th. The EDA has again partnered with the Chamber in planning and holding an event to recognize Elk River manufacturers. Below is a summary • of the event: Manufacturing&Technology Week Update October 7,2005 Page 2 of 2 • • 10:00am Orluck Industries tour • 10:45am Gradient Technology tour • 11:30am 2006 Business Game Plan Theme Luncheon For more details, see the attached invitation that the EDA received via U.S. Mail in late September.
