MEMORANDUM TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Joan Schmidt, City Clerk DATE: October 18,2004 SUBJECT: Resolution Acknowledging Contribution from Elk River Fire and Ambulance An update on the Fire Station #1 painting was included as information in your October 4, 2004 City Council packet. In that update, it was indicated that Elk River Fire and Ambulance graciously contributed $7,500.00 to be used towards the Fire Station #1 painting project. According to State Statute 465.03 (see attached), cities should acknowledge receipt of such a contribution by adopting a Resolution. Any city, county, school district or town may accept a grant or devise of real or personal property and maintain such property for the benefit of its citizens in accordance with the terms prescribed by the donor. Nothing herein shall authorize such acceptance or use for religious or sectarian purposes. Every such acceptance shall be by resolution of the governing body adopted by a two-thirds majority of its members, expressing such terms in full.
