Staff Update
DISCUSSION:
• Working with City staff to develop a solar ordinance that meets planning, zoning, and
utility requirements. There is one resident that has signed a purchase agreement and
another resident is in discussions with their association on the possibility of an
installation.
• Worked with Economic Development Authority(EDA) on a tour of Elk River and the
Data Center site with a prospective developer. The developer was very interested in the
area south and west of the intersection of County Rd. 33 and Hwy 169. Also working
with the EDA to respond to a request for information(RFI) for Project Pine.
• Continue to work with Sherburne County Health and Human Services to promote the
income eligible energy conservation kits.
• Both residential and commercial rebate activity has been steady.
• Working with a couple of larger commercial customers to educate them on how the
equipment operation in their building can significantly impact their energy bills. They
evaluate options to see if scheduling or production process can be modified to save
demand or energy.
• Working with vendors to research electric vehicle cars and charging stations as part of the
Energy City initiative. The purpose is to evaluate options and determine the benefits and
costs of electric vehicle use within the City of Elk River.
