SUBJECT: Comprehensive Plan Update
The Planning Commission, at its October 28, 2003 meeting, conducted a public hearing regarding
the draft Comprehensive Plan. The meeting was relatively well attended by both members of the
Task Force and residents of the city. One resident spoke regarding the need to preserve the 10-acre
lot minimums north of County Road 33, and Cliff Lundberg,Task Force Member and
• representative of the River's Edge Downtown Business Association, spoke regarding language
changes to the Old Town description in both the Land Use chapter (Chapter 5) and the initiatives
section (Chapter 3).
The Planning Commission discussed at length transportation,the extension of sewer and water, and
the need for additional commercial land along Highway 169 in order to accommodate future
resident needs.
The Commission voted unanimously to recommend approval of the plan as presented with the
minor language changes suggested by Mr.Lundberg.
The City Council will conduct a public hearing on the draft plan at its November 17, 2003 meeting.
This meeting will be held in the Little Theater at the High School.
