Attached for your information is a fax which I received from Jean Lewis from Pat Summerall
Productions regarding an opportunity to be selected for a city management award. This
"opportunity" comes with a price tag. In my conversation with Ms. Lewis I understand that the cost
for the city is about 1/4 of the total cost of the production. This may be a very good opportunity to
• advertise the city to businesses and industries.
Ms. Lewis indicated that she was going to speak to the Mayor and accordingly,Mayor Klinzing may
have an update on this issue for the City Council.
In my conversation with Ms. Lewis,it was indicated that the city is one of the municipalities under
consideration in Minnesota and that,in effect,we are in competition with a few other communities
for being selected for this award. A questionnaire is planned to be sent to me in the near future to be
filled out for further evaluation of our community. (This assumes that we are still interested and are
willing to pay our share of the production costs.) As I understand this program, it is new and that
Minnesota is one of the first states selected for this program and that they (Pat Summerall
Productions) intend to go state by state throughout the country with this civic recognition program.
Everything about this opportunity sounds wonderful with the exception of the price tag. Attached is
some Pat Summerall website information.

evaluated based on population, growth.rate,commitment to economic development,public safety,
exemplary schools,visible arts support,reasonable tax assessments, city bond rating and medical.

• understanding for the culture and history of their city and a vision for its future.
The announcement of the.:award for each selected city will be aired in a single 2-minute profile on
CNN Headline News Network. Additionally,I will produce a 5-minute residual video for the
city's use, which will also be webcast on Forbes.cornfor one twenty-four hour period.
Arrangements can be made to stream the video to the City's website. The listing of our selected
cities will be published in Forbes Magazine in 2004.
A city selected for this award will be responsible for:
• Assigning a"point person"to coordinate the 2-day location shoot.
• Working within our production time line.
• Paying your portion of the production expenses, which is 524,000.
