Background/Discussion
Staff presented a year-end update to the Sherburne County EDA, our partner on several trade show
events and activities. We plan to attend the spring Data World Conference, along with National CapRate
Summits and Information Management Network (IMN) conferences this year.
We continue our partnership with GreaterMSP which allows staff to attend various market visits
throughout the year. Last June,in partnership with GreaterMSP we attended site selector visits with US
Consults,DataCenter Hawk, Cressa,and Mohr Partners in Dallas. The visits turned into a site visit from
US Consults,who visited Elk River on January 29. We facilitated a tour of Elk River Sherburne County
and ERMU.This visit and the relationships being built,reinforces the importance of participating in trade
shows and market visits.
Marketing:
The community profile is in the final revision stage and staff has received a mock-up of the proposed
pocket folder. The mock-up is currently being reviewed by ED and communications staff members.
EDA/HRA Website:
We recently approved the new website design and are now focusing on site content and mapping. The
project is well within estimated timelines.
Trade Shows/Conferences:
The city will be part of the Minnesota Delegation which includes DEED,Xcel Energy, Irongate Data
Centers, Great River Energy,Michaud Cooley, SiteSpan and Dakota Electric.
Financial Impact
Funding for trade shows and advertising are included in the 2016 budget.
