Promotions & Advertising Strategy Inquiries The Director of Economic Development has provided a separate report on the 2002 Inquiries/Prospects. ACT contact management software was purchased and installed to improve the tracking of inquiries and key accounts in 2003. Economic Development Web Page Staff refined the design for the industrial site-specific information into a table founat so that it is easier to read. Site-specific access to major roadways and road tonnage will be added in the near future. The Economic Development web page is located within the City's web site at www.ci.elk-river.mn.us. The 2003 Community Profile has also been placed on the Economic Development web page, as well as the City's home page under the "Services" sidebar. The final print of the • 2003 Community Profile will be distributed at the EDA meeting. 2003 Ad Campaign The Feb.3Td MN Real Estate Journal and the Feb. Leasing Guide ads featured E & 0 Tool and Plastics. Staff is working to schedule future photo shoots with additional Elk River manufacturers. V. Public Relations Strategy Energy City Staff continues to work with Tammy Miller Design to refine the new Energy City brochure. The Action Committee for Energy (ACE) has approved a folder with insert design that will allow staff to update and print inserts in-house. MN Technology Partnership Please see the attached memo from the Director of Economic Development. VI. Strategic Partnership Strategy Downtown Revitalization Project No new developments have occurred with the Downtown Revitalization Project. As new developments occur, staff will provide the EDA with the monthly Downtown Revitalization Project update located within the City's web site under the News & Events sidebar and the Downtown Revitalization Project link. • Strategic Industrial Marketing Activities Update February 10,2002 Page 3 of 3 Secondary Technical Education Program (STEP) • Staff and AllTool Pinnacle Design&Manufacturing attended a tour of STEP, a new high school located in the college setting of Anoka-Hennepin Technical College. STEP provides technical education for 11th and 12``'grade students. Staff will utilize this program to assist local manufacturers in forming or strengthening partnerships with the college to address workforce issues. 2003 Money Breakfast Please see the attached 2003 Money Breakfast announcement. A flyer for the event is also posted on the City's web site under the "News &Events" sidebar. The Money Breakfast will be held at Connections in Big Lake on Wednesday, February 13th from 8:30 to noon. Presented by the Sherburne County Economic Development Affiance and the Chambers of Commerce of Becker, Big Lake, Zimmerman,Princeton and Elk River, the 3`d Annual Money Breakfast is a workshop for new or existing small businesses interested in the latest financing program/techniques,relocating or expanding, employee retention, etc. Staff will attend and the Director of Economic Development will speak on TIF,Tax Abatement, and Venture Capital at the event. VII. Business Retention Strategy Business Retention Program Jeff Gongoll and staff conducted two BRE visits, one with AlltoolPinnacle Design& • Manufacturing and one with MN Fabrication&Machine. Staff will contact EDA members individually to schedule future meetings. Special Event Please see the attached event announcement. Staff is hosting a special event with the Economic Development Association of MN (EDAM) on Thursday, February 20, 2003 from 11:30am-1:30pm at City Hall. The program will feature the Elk River Business Incubator Program. The Mayor will provide a welcome at 12:00pm. Please contact staff if you are interested in attending this event so that staff can handle your registration through EDAM. The mission of EDAM is to advance the profession of Economic Development. EDAM offers education and networking opportunities and also monitors legislative activities that impact Economic Development.
