Hiring staff this season started slow but we have managed to hire five Arena I Workers
(Zamboni Drivers), five Arena II Workers (Skate Sharpening, Front Area), and three
Cashiers.
• The dehumidifier and heater unit is here. The unit is scheduled to be in operation by
November 16, 1998. On a relating note, the two other dehumidifiers have been sold and
should be removed by Thanksgiving.
I have sold three advertising signs on the rink boards and two on the Zamboni. I have six
companies that I am 90% sure will be placing a signs in the Arena. There are another four
companies that are considering the signs.
From January 1, 1997 through October 31, 1997 the Arena had sold about 2490.5 hours,
which generated about $195,801.00 in revenue. The same time frame this season, the
Arena sold about 2,874.5 hours generating roughly $243,089.00. I contribute the added
hours and revenue to an aggressive off season programs and the growth of the Skating
Academy. With the loss of St. Michael Youth Hockey and High School I have noticed the
non - prime time ice is not selling as in the past especially the Sunday Mornings.
The School District will be remodeling and repaving the High School parking lot this
summer. The old varsity field will be removed for additional parking. Plans for the
parking lot should be available for review by the end of the year.
It is yet unclear how this project will effect the traffic flow to and from the Arena.
