EDSR 05-12-1997 MEETING OF T E ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY • HE D AT THE ELK RIVER CITY HALL MONDAY, APRIL 14, 1997 Members Present: President Dwyer, Commissioners Bender, Holmgren, Farber, G•ngoll, Thompson, and Duitsman (arrived at 6:30 p.m.) Members Absent: None • Staff Present: Pa I Steinman, Director of Economic Development; Sandra Th•ckeray, City Clerk Also Present: 1. Call Meetin• To order Pursuant to due c•II and notice thereof, the meeting of the Economic Development Authority was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by President Dwyer. 2. Consider Agenda COMMISSIONER GONGOLL MOVED TO APPROVE THE APRIL 14, 1997, EDA AGENDA. COMMISSIONER BENDER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION 7-0. 3. Consider Consent Agenda COMMISSIONER HOLMGREN MOVED TO APPROVE THE CONSENT AGENDA AS FOLLOWS: 3.1. EDA CHECK REGISTER-APPROVED 3.2. MARCH 10, 1997, EDA MINUTES-APPROVED • COMMISSIONER FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0. 4. Open Mike No one appeared for open mike. 5. Business Incubator Progress Report Paul Steinman updated the EDA on two potential Business Incubator prospects. He indicated that SolarAttic, Inc.will be leasing 3,500 square feet and MAS Technologies will be leasing 3,800 square feet leaving 4,000 square feet available in the building. 6. Discussion of Strategic Planning Presentation Paul Steinman informed the EDA that the Council, HRA, EDA, Planning S Commission and Park and Recreation Commission of the meeting on April 21 to review the results of the Strategic Planning process. He further indicated that the Economic Development Authority Minutes April 14, 1997 Page 2 • public will be given several weeks to comment on the plan following the April 21 meeting. 7. 1996 Annual Report Paul Steinman presented the 1996 Economic Development Annual Report. (Commissioner Duitsman arrived at this time (6:30 p.m.) Discussion was held regarding the status of the existing marketing video. It was suggested that the video be updated to include activities such as the Heritage Festival, the new shopping center and other recent activities that may not be included. President Dwyer requested that the video be reviewed at the next EDA meeting. 8. Other Business/Updates President Dwyer updated the EDA on the open house held at the School District maintenance garage which was built on property located in the city's industrial park. Paul Steinman updated the EDA on the economic development activity report. 9. Adjournment • There being no further business, COMMISSIONER GONGOLL MOVED TO ADJOURN THE EDA MEETING.
