Dear Community Leader:
A series of four educational seminars in community economic development entitled"Building
Your Communitie's Future" is being offered for community leaders by the Minnesota Extension
Service and Sherburne County Economic Development Council. The seminars are focused
around satellite downlink programs produced by the University of Minnesota and the Illinois
Institute for Rural Affairs. All seminars will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:45 to 9:15
p.m. at the Sherburne County Government Center Atrium Rooms A & B. Dates and program
topics are:
BUILDING YOUR COMMUNITIE'S FUTURE:
April 22: Successful Business Retention and Expansion Efforts
May 20 : Stabilizing and Revitalizing Downtown
• Sept. 16: Financing Economic Development - Practices and Strategies
Oct. 21 : Strategies for Marketing Your Community
These seminars provide a unique opportunity to bring governmental units, economic development
professionals, chambers of commerce, business development representatives, civic organizations,
media and educators together to learn about topics important to community growth and
prosperity.
We are sending this invitation to you as a representative of your organization or governmental
unit asking that you share this with your membership, board or council. So that we can plan for
