Staff Update
DISCUSSION:
• Had seven new services.
• Continue working on collecting data with the GPS for our ArcView maps as time
permits.
• The frost is out so we started boring again. We are placing underground wire at Ulysses
and 171st Avenue.
• Continue rebuilding the overhead line on the east side of HWY 169 south of Co. Rd. 33
to 197th Ave.
• Diversified did our annual inspections on the bucket and digger trucks. The inspections
included: Visual/Operational,Magnetic Particle, Dielectric, and Load and Acoustic
Emission Testing.
• Finished tree trimming for now.
• Started rebuilding River Ranch in Otsego. This is the third year of this project and we
hope to have it completed this year. We are replacing the rear lot line overhead with front
lot line underground.
• At the Police Departments recommendation, we're installing some street lights at certain
intersections and entrances around town
• We have ordered the Vac-Tron,which was a budgeted item, through the NJPA contract.
We also received the bore rig truck through the State of Minnesota contract and are in the
process of getting the bed installed. The other vehicles that were budgeted for have not
been ordered yet and will come before the commission prior to ordering them.
• I attended the American Public Power Association(APPA) Engineering and Operations
Technical Conference. Some of the breakout sessions I attended where: Finding a Way
for Transmission and Distribution Rights-of-Way and Getting Permits, Situation
Awareness to Reduce Human Error, AMI Planning and Deployment, LED Streetlighting

• National Linemen Day is April 18, 2016.
• Scott Thoreson attended the MMUA Meter School February 16-19 in Marshall, MN. His
education report is attached.
