SUBJECT: Fire Prevention Specialist
The Elk River Fire Department is moving forward in reference to the hiring of a fire prevention
specialist for the City of Elk River. I have been working with Lauren Wipper from the Finance
Department on the job description for the newly created fire prevention specialist position. The job
description has been reviewed and fInalized by both Lauren and myself. Advertisement for the
position will be until November 12, 2004, and at that time, applications will be reviewed and
interviews will be held shordy thereafter. The position will be posted as an in-house posting at the
Elk River Fire Department.
The interview panel shall consist of Cliff Anderson, Fire Inspector; Bob Ruprecht, Building
Inspector; Lauren Wipper, Finance Department; and myself. It is anticipated a fInal selection shall
be completed and forwarded to the Mayor and City Council for approval at the December 13, 2004
City Council meeting. I am very excited about the hiring of a fire prevention specialist and housing
code inspector for the Elk River Fire Department.
