Action Requested
Sergeant Justin Ege will provide a demonstration of the iRobot device and provide information pertaining
to the MRAP armored vehicle.
Background/Discussion
The Police Department, through a grant program,was awarded an iRobot device to be used in tactical
situations. The device is valued at$187,000 and will be utilized by the SWAT team.
Through this same federal government grant program, the department is eligible to receive a MRAP
armored vehicle. The MRAP,if awarded,would be utilized by the SWAT team for deployment during
high-risk situations.
Financial Impact
The only financial impact incurred by the city was shipping costs for the iRobot in the amount of$120.
