TO: FROM:

John Dietz—Chair
Al Nadeau—Vice-Chair
Daryl Thompson- Trustee
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
May 10th, 2016 6.1d
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
DISCUSSION:
• The Locating department had a total of 407 locate tickets in April; one of them being an
emergency ticket, two cancellations, 11 meetings, 374 normal tickets and 10 updated tickets.
The locating department is getting very busy; the complexity of tickets has changed and
become more complicated and more labor intensive. We are also seeing quite a bit of
growth in Elk River placing more of a burden on our locating services.
• In April, the Security Systems Department had a total of 68 phone contacts, seven systems
quoted, four system sales made, seven installs completed, 30 service calls and seven
personal visits.
• Electric Technicians continue with the meter reading, power bill, substation checks, hanging
red-tags, meter read-outs, dealing with meter and off-peak issues, as well as delivering and
installing new meters to commercial customers. We are also seeing the activity in the meter
department growing as well. They continue to change out the three phase meters with
meters that will be read by radio ERT. We have started to prepare for the future acquisition
areas from Connexus.
• Preparing to install and commission new substation Real-Time Automation Controller
(RTAC)at Otsego substation, and test controls for the 69kv circuit switcher and associated
relays.
• The power plant staff did the monthly engine run on April 27th. All engines ran well with no
problems.
• Mapping department has completed the new map books and are approximately 50% finished
with getting entire service territory map updated to reflect entire system in Esri mapping
software.
