4.0. SR 11-15-2004 Item # 4.0. MEMORANDUM TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Bruce A. West, Fire Chief DATE: November 15,2004 SUBJECT: Accept Grant from CenterPoint Energy Minnegasco to the Fire Department On behalf of the Elk River Fire Department, I will be present at the City Council meeting on Monday, November 15, 2004 to accept a $2,500 grant for the purchase of an Amkus electric power unit for the Fire Department. CenterPoint Energy's Community Partnership Grant Program awards communities up to $2,500 for the purchase of public safety equipment. The Elk River Fire Department applied for a grant to purchase an Amkus EF25- XL electric power unit to be placed on Engine 2 located at Fire Station #2 on Orono Parkway. The Elk River Fire Department would like to thank CenterPoint Energy Minnegasco for this generous $2,500 donation for the purchase of an Amkus electric power unit to assist in serving our community and our citizens. I will be in attendance at the Council meeting to accept the grant award from CenterPoint Energy Minnegasco. Action Requested It is requested that Mayor and Council adopt the attached resolution acknowledging the monetary contribution from CenterPoint Energy Minnegasco pursuant to Minnesota State Statute 465.03. RESOLUTION #04- RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CITY OF ELK RIVER WHEREAS, the City of Elk River is grateful to all civic groups, organizations, and individuals for their contributions to the community; and WHEREAS, the City of Elk River received a $2,500.00 grant from Centerpoint Energy Minnegasco with the intent it be used by the Elk River Fire Department for the purchase of an Amkus electric power unit; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River to acknowledge the support and commend Centerpoint Energy Minnegasco for their grant award.
