Adopt, by motion, the attached resolution appointing election judges for the 2016 Primary and General
Elections.
Background/Discussion
Minnesota Statute §204B.21 requires election judges for precincts in a municipality to be appointed by the
governing body of the municipality at least 25 days before the election at which the judges will serve.
The attached resolution lists the judges that have been assigned to work the Primary Election on Tuesday,
August 9, 2016, and/or the General Election on Tuesday, November 8, 2016.
Financial Impact
Election judges are paid an hourly wage of $9.50 and co-chairs receive $11.50 per hour. Election judge
wages are included in the 2016 budget.

A Resolution of the City of Elk River Appointing Election Judges for the
2016 Elections
WHEREAS,
pursuant to Minnesota Statute §204B.21, the City Council shall officially
approve the appointment of election judges; and
WHEREAS,
the City of Elk River City Council hereby adopts the judges listed on Exhibit
A, hereto attached, as the official judges for the August 9, 2016, State Primary, and the
November 8, 2016, General Election, with the understanding that changes may be necessary
to the appointments in order to fill vacancies and meet party balance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED
by the City Council of the City of Elk
:
River, Minnesota, as follows that the names listed on Exhibit A, attached hereto, are the
official election judges for the City of Elk River State Primary on August 9, 2016, and the
General Election on November 8, 2016, and the City Council further authorizes the city
clerk to appoint additional judges as needed.
