ECCSR UPDATE 06-17-2016 01/ Cir, c>= ElkMemorandum River To: Energy City Commissioners From: Kristin Mroz, Environmental Technician Date: June 17, 2016 Subject: June Update Youth Energy City and Sustainability Committee We have four applications in already! Please continue to help spread the news. Climate Smart Municipalities Cal Portner and I are getting ready to head out to Germany on July 2. Attached is the agenda if you have any connections to that area or sites that we will be visiting, I would be interested in hearing from you! Green Step Cities We were awarded the Step 4 award at the League of Minnesota Cities Conference on June 15. We were one of 6 MN cities to receive the award (along with St. Anthony Village, Burnsville, Eden Prairie, Hutchinson, and Maplewood). Attached is the data that was submitted for the Step 4. City Operations Greenhouse Gas Assessment paleBLUEdot,LLC has completed our city operations baseline assessment! This includes city and ERMU owned buildings, liftstations, transportation, water usage, streetlights, etc. They will provide a presentation to City Council at a later date, to which you will be invited to. They will also create some infographics for us to use as publicity. Please take a look and let me know your thoughts. The report is attached. International Energy Conference This is short notice but there is a Community Energy Forum: International and Minnesota Prespectives on Emerging Trends on June 21, 6:00 -8:30 p.m. at the St. Paul RiverCenter. Please see the attached flyer for more information. The forum looks like a great start to our 'POWERED B1 N:\Departments\Community Development\Environmental\Energy City\Agendas - Packets- Memos - Minutes\2016\7- 15-16 Update\Memo-ECC Update 7-15-16.docx Germany partnership. I plan to attend. Please let me know if you will be attending so I can keep an eye on quorum. LCCMR BioDigestor If you remember, Melanie Waite-Altringer presented to us in February regarding the biodigestor that Anoka-Ramsey Community College was looking into finding a grant to purchase. Melanie applied to the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR) and the project has passed the first round! Everyone involved will be presenting to the committee in St. Paul on June 21 and decisions will be made by July 13. If accepted, the final details and work plan will be determined in the months following. Thank you!
