ERMUSR 07-12-2016 i Elk River Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING TO: FROM: Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Mark Fuchs—Electric Superintendent John Dietz—Chair Al Nadeau—Vice Chair Daryl Thompson—Trustee _ MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: July 12, 2016 6.1c SUBJECT: Staff Update DISCUSSION: • Had ten new services. • Continue working on collecting data with the GPS for our ArcView maps as time permits. • Continue rebuilding River Ranch in Otsego. • Finished working on changing out the rest of the fuse pads. This has been an ongoing project that had to be done due to our high fault current. • Continue working on changing out some of the rusty junction boxes and removing ones that are no longer necessary. During the process of going through these areas,we also install fuse pads for better sectionalizing when a fault occurs. • Mi-Tech Pole Inspection Services tested 301 of our poles. Three poles had some minor issues that will need to be addressed, and eight poles that did not pass inspection will need to be replaced. • We had approximately 330 customers out of power after the storm on June 25th. A tree fell on Feeder 74 and broke the pole on County Road 1 which was the cause of a majority of customers that were out of power. As the damaged pole extended out into the road, the Elk River Police assisted with traffic control. Attached is a picture of the damaged pole. • Put up a fixed and a switched capacitor bank on Feeder 64 out of the north substation to help correct the power factor. • Painted the street light poles on Holt Street near Aldi, and on Zane Street near Walmart. We are also going to paint some switchgear cabinets. • On June 29th a car struck a three phase dead-end pole with a three phase underground riser on it, and a single phase overhead tap. Attached is a picture of the broken pole.
