Background/Discussion
Franklin Outdoor Advertising re-evaluated their originally proposed sign location after the June 20,2016,
City Council meeting and has decided to relocate the sign. Staff advertised the public hearing due the new
location being within the 25 foot wetland buffer,beyond the 20 foot buffer setback encroachment that
was approved by the Board of Adjustments on May 24,2016.
Staff spoke with the Environmental Technician on Monday July 18,2016,and she did not support
encroachment within the 25 foot wetland buffer. Staff spoke with the applicant and asked if a different
sign style would work as the variance would not be supported by staff.
The applicant agreed to change the sign style,meaning a new variance is not required as the previous
approval allows a 20 foot encroachment into the buffer setback.
