Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the hiring of Todd Neal for the position of Park Maintenance Worker effective
August 17, 2016.
Background/Discussion
In anticipation of the retirement of Lead Park Maintenance Worker Steve Stoffers, we went to market to
fill this position. Park Maintenance Worker Josh Baas was the successful candidate leaving vacant a Park
Maintenance Worker position. We went to market to fill the new vacancy.
We received 51 applications for the Park Maintenance Worker position and offered interviews to the top
eight candidates. Following interviews, background and reference checks, and pre-employment testing,
staff recommends Todd Neal for the position of Park Maintenance Worker.
Mr. Neal has been working for Anoka County Parks as a Park keeper for the past three years. Prior to
Anoka County, he was a crew leader for the Minnesota Conservation Corps and a laborer for a home
remodeler.
This position is part of the new Local 49 union and that contract is being negotiated. Mr. Neal will start
at step A of pay grade 6 in our 2015 Pay Plan. All pay and benefits will be consistent with city policy and
union contract.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
