ERMUSR 08-09-2016 Elk River Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING TO: FROM: Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Eric Volk- Water Superintendent John Dietz—Chair Al Nadeau—Vice Chair Daryl Thompson—Trustee MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: August 9, 2016 6.1e SUBJECT: Staff Update DISCUSSION: • Delivered eight new water meters. • Sealed the water meter, and took curb stop ties from seven water services. • Went on seven service calls. • Completed 25 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria. • Completed 20 routine fluoride samples o All samples met MDH standards. • Received the results from our 2016 Lead and Copper Testing, and based on the results our public water system has not exceeded the action level for lead or copper. In addition, all of the homes tested passed both lead and copper. Attached is the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Lead/Copper Monitoring Report,the MDH Lead/Copper Delivery Certification, and the notification letter and lead in drinking water fact sheet that was sent out to the customers who participated in the testing. Due to data privacy, we are unable to include the addresses of the homes that were tested. Based on our test results, we will not be required to perform Lead and Copper testing again until 2019. • The water operators have nearly completed the annual preventative maintenance of fire hydrants. Within the next few weeks, the operators will have performed maintenance on over 350 hydrants this year. • Well #7 was put back into service and has been performing as expected. • The contractors have been progressing with the WTP#7 Expansion. Most of the footings have been poured and the new water main leaving the expansion has also been installed. The walls, filter, and roof are all scheduled to be installed the week of Labor Day. I have attached pictures of the progress made so far. • The water main at the high school was repaired permanently. Attached is a picture of the repair.
